Leírás
Nowadays, the ekibulenge is considered to be a properly primitive instrument, and it is often played by children.
Sometimes a resonator made from a calabash cut in half is attached to it. The player poses the instrument close to his mouth and strikes its chord (omuhinda) with a small stick held is the left hand. With the right hand, he holds the instrument and modifies the vibrating lenght of the chord within the range of about half a tone. By modifying the oral cavity and moving the calabash (enzovoli), the musician produces various harmonics creating a melody which is nearly identical to the one he is singing. This song belongs to a cycle of five recounting the difficult love affair between a young villager and a girl from town.
